Susan Siefer“Art is everywhere, except it has to pass through a creative mind.” - Louise Nevelson, artist
From a renovated Mill Building studio north of Boston, Susan Siefer, owner of MadPatter ArtDesign, creates energetic canvases, custom samples for clients, and installation pieces for home and business.
As a former textile artist and designer, Susan maintains a love of texture, color and pattern. All three are strong elements in all of her work. A stenciled pattern that dances across the wall; a dimensional metallic design that emboldens the ceiling; a lush venetian plaster that looks like stone and feels like satin. These are all components that are incorporated into her painting and help bring beauty to the interiors of her clients. Although steeped in the craftsmanship tradition, she brings a modernist influence to all that she does.
Creative, gracious, curious, an out of the box thinker, Susan has a loyal following of many repeat clients as well as a new generation of decorative paint devotees . The goal of MadPatter ArtDesign is to bring new and exciting ideas to each project large or small.
Susan received a BFA and a MFA in Textile Design and Weaving from Wayne State University in her home state of Michigan and a Certificate of Graphic Design from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston. Besides various freelance design projects, she was employed for many years as a Store Designer for a large and well-known retail home furnishings company in the Boston area. Susan has participated in many workshops and programs for entrepreneurs and actively stays current in the decorative paint and design industry by attending professional workshops, seminars and networking events throughout the country.
MadPatter ArtDesign conducts workshops and design presentations in the studio as well as at onsite businesses. Please give us a call if you would be interested in learning more about the intriguing world of art + design in painting, whether through workshops, DIY programs, or an engaging presentation by owner Susan Siefer.
